Meet Ichiro: Our Loyal Companion

A small dog relaxing in a peaceful, organized home space, reflecting warmth, presence, and everyday comfort

Say Hi to Ichiro

I’d like to introduce you to Ichiro — our playful and affectionate Havanese who brings a quiet kind of joy into our home.

He’s more than just a dog. He’s part of our family.

His name, Ichiro, means “first son” in Japanese, which feels fitting in a way that’s both lighthearted and true. There’s a presence he carries — steady, loyal, and deeply connected — that naturally weaves itself into daily life.

Ichiro spends time between our homes, and I get to enjoy his company often. If you’re familiar with Havanese, you may have heard them described as “Velcro dogs.” They like to stay close, moving gently from room to room, always aware of where you are. Ichiro is no different. He follows, settles nearby, and reminds us — without effort — what it means to be present.

He also has his own way of communicating. A soft nudge, a shift in position, a quiet persistence that says, “I’m here.” It’s simple, but it draws your attention back to the moment.

Each morning begins in a similar rhythm — a walk, breakfast, a gentle start to the day. Nothing extraordinary, and yet there’s something grounding in it. A reminder that consistency and small rituals can carry a sense of steadiness.

Watching him interact with my daughter and with my partner often brings me back to what matters. There is curiosity, openness, and a kind of ease that doesn’t rush ahead or hold on too tightly. Just a quiet way of being.

Over time, I’ve come to see how much animals reflect something back to us. Presence. Patience. A connection to what is happening now, rather than what has already passed or what is still ahead.

In many ways, this mirrors the work I do. Creating a supportive home, making space, and moving through change all begin with noticing. Noticing what is here, what feels aligned, and what we may have overlooked.

Life doesn’t always ask for big changes. Often, it asks for small moments of attention — to what’s around us, and to who we share it with.

From time to time, I’ll share small glimpses like this — moments from daily life, reflections, and perhaps a few quiet observations from Ichiro as well.

Thank you for being here.
